sodium nitrite is white or light yellow crystal, the specific weight of pure NaNO2 at 20°C is 2.17, melting point 271°C; it is reducing, oxidizing, easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol and aether, toxic, odorless and slightly salty.
